Knurling is a mechanical process of rolling patterns on the handles of metal products or on other work surfaces. It is mainly used for anti-skid.
The current national standard: GB/T 6403.3-2008 Knurling, detailed specifications for the size specifications (modulus 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) of straight and knurled knurling.
Can be divided into straight knurling wheel, right twill knurling wheel, six knurling knives.
The various parts of tools and machine parts often have various patterns rolled out on the surface to facilitate gripping and aesthetics. Such as the percentage of the casing, hinge wrenches and thread gauges. These patterns are generally formed on a lathe with a knurling roller (Fig. 3-34). There are two kinds of patterns, ruled and textured, and the knurling tool is also divided into a ruled knurling tool (Fig. 3-35a) and Anilox roller knives (Fig. 3-35b, c). It is necessary to fully supply the cooling lubricant so as not to grind the knurling tool and prevent fine chips from stagnating in the knurling tool and causing turbulence.
